The first half of 2026 has been an exciting one for Wescom’s Bakken team. From supporting critical infrastructure during a complex gas processing plant shutdown to helping modernize a local elementary school, our crews have been busy delivering projects that make a lasting impact.
Executing a Critical Plant Shutdown
The year began with one of our largest planned shutdown projects at a regional gas processing facility. The project centered around replacing aging feeder circuits with engineered 15kV medium-voltage cable, following extensive underground infrastructure and Trenwa installation work completed in late 2025.
Over the course of a 10-day shutdown, Wescom crews provided 24-hour support through coordinated first- and second-shift operations. The project included demolition of the existing electrical system, installation of twelve new medium-voltage feeder runs, and careful coordination between multiple crews to maintain an aggressive schedule.
Success on projects like this doesn’t begin when crews arrive onsite. It starts months in advance with detailed engineering, material procurement, manpower planning, logistics, and risk mitigation. That preparation allowed our field teams to focus on what they do best: executing safely, efficiently, and with the flexibility required to meet our client’s needs.
Projects like these reinforce the value of experienced people, thoughtful planning, and a culture built around teamwork.
Investing in the Communities We Serve
Our work isn’t limited to industrial facilities.
This summer, our Bakken team began supporting the modernization of an elementary school in Williston, North Dakota. The project will provide students and teachers with upgraded heating, cooling, lighting, and electrical infrastructure before the new school year begins.
Working alongside several outstanding contractors, our crews have been identifying and isolating existing electrical systems, removing obsolete equipment, and preparing the building for new HVAC systems, ceilings, lighting, and electrical distribution.
While projects like this look different from refinery or energy work, they require the same commitment to planning, quality workmanship, and safety.
